As a recognition of the Month of Mental Health, TGR Foundation and Providence partner to support students and families in South California through empowered Fair Wellness Health, where they launched the latest green benches from the provision of Providence to speak initiative.
During the free event, students and families have the opportunity to participate in various workshops, which are offered in English and Spanish. The session, led by representatives of providence and the TGR foundation, gave tips and tools to help participants navigate and prioritize their mental health.
“Presentation from [Seeing through] The third eye is really good because there are many conversations between parents, “said Edith Moreno, a parent of a student of Lab Tgr Learning.” There are many problems that we don’t know how to deal with it, and I like being here because I learn. ”
TGR Learning Lab green bench is part of the Green Bench OC campaign, which was developed through Providence’s Promise to Talk Initiative. This campaign is designed to provide resources to reduce the stigma of mental disease.
“We are very happy to uncover our new bench here at TGR Learning Lab in partnerships with Providence and The Promise to Talk Campaign,” said John Lee, Vice President of Senior Program and Education, TGR Foundation. “When we realize the importance of health and prosperity, we will continue to support our students, educators and families in class and outside.”
The Green Bench OC movement functions as a visual reminder and invitation for students and families to have honest conversations about their mental health.
“The TGR Foundation has created a safe place to talk about mental health, and we hope that this bench will always function as a reminder,” said Christy Cornwall, Manager of Public Health Investment, Providence. “We hope that the entire TGR Foundation community, whether they are students, staff, family members or visitors, using this bench.”

The green bench at TGR Learning Lab is one of 17 at Orange County.
“That was the first time I heard about green benches and learning how important it was to spend time listening and not only for others, but also for nature and what is around you,” added Moreno. “I really like [this event] And I am grateful for this opportunity. “
In addition to information, students walk away with mental medical devices and resources made during the session about the mindfulness tools do-it-yourself including stress balls and mind stoples.
“I went to the Mindfulness DIY workshop, and it was fun,” said Braulio Trujillo, Lab Tgr Lab student. “I don’t always feel comfortable talking and I like how they use daily tools or things that you can use to calm down.”

TGR Foundation and Providence plans to continue to offer resources and opportunities for students and families to support mental health and prosperity outside the Month of Mental Health.
“After today’s workshop, I want to talk more with my parents about myself,” said Christopher, Lab Tgr Learning student. “I feel I have to be more open about what I feel and what I do. Overall, this event is very fun. I hope there are more like this in the future.”
Bench Wellness Health which is empowered and Green Bench is an extension of the partnership between TGR Foundation and Providence which is centered on three pillars including health education, health equality and labor development.
