Stadium courses, Sawgrass TPC, Player Championship Houses, and 5th Department of Unofficial in Golf. Yes, because we all know that PGA Tour only recognizes 4 major championships, we also know that the players historically display the best fields, and this course gives a background to drama, excitement, and admiration. Taking the stadium course is not an extraordinary experience from beginning to end!
For this Tiger Challenge episode, I live in Marriot Sawgrass which is one mile walking or short -picking trip on the road from TPC Sawgrass. I decided to travel on foot that gave me the opportunity to walk on a historic entrance and admire clubhouses. When I walked to the bag drop, I was overwhelmed to think of all the history of the course and reflect on all the afternoon that I spent watching Tiger (and recently Scottie Scheffler) made an extraordinary shot and Putt memorable on the 17th.
After checking -in, my clubs were immediately taken out and I was given a training ball to reach the reach to warm up before taking the stadium. The price label related to this course is the highest to date, $ 745. In addition, the course requires you to take forecaddie if you drive and caddy if running, so be sure to check with pro-shop staff about caddy costs. I was able to walk and be paired with a spectacular caddy that made the day so fun and really made me feel like I got the real ‘tourist experience’.
After warming up in the range, you head to the first Tee where there is a green rotation which is a true representation of the green speed on the field. I have to comment on how spectacular starter, John, is in the first Tee. TPC is lucky to have John as a starter because he is a personality, helping, and true servants of the game. Before sending me on the way, Jon gave me a steel bag label from the famous -177 to be carved after a round, introducing me to my group (convincing me that I was paired with 2 fantastic play partners), and took photos of our group before Tee -OFF as a memory with Clubhouse in the background.
Once again, I was lucky to be paired with two extraordinary play partners, Steve and Dr. Jake. This is the 76th Steve round in the stadium courses and Dr. Jake was the first, therefore, both Jake and I was very dependent on Steve’s local knowledge and experience on the field all day. I like to hear Steve’s story about championships and past players by great players such as Greg Norman, Justin Thomas, Craig Perks, and of course Tiger.
I decided to keep using my group and played white Tee for that day, which amounted to around 6100 yard. The opening hole is par 4 with water on the right and several trees and pine straw on the left. Even though I started my day at Pine Straw, I was captivated by how to managing fairways with visible diamond patterns. I found sand in the opening hole, which seemed to be a trend for me all day, but the sand in TPC was really not something that was scary because it was very clean, white, and could be played. When I took the ball I came out of the cup in the first hole, I was able to say that the stadium course was a special course, and I was in a shop for an unforgettable experience. Bring the first forced water to come in the third hole, which is a short par 3 that is rotated around 135. The hole functions as a reminder of the famous green island which is famous in my future. This course really reflects everything that is stereotype from the design of the pete color … many bunkers, water, and attractive hole design. Honestly I can say I am never bored in this course.

The Front 9 offers two truly prominent holes to me, #5 and #7. The 5th hole is a long dogleg par 4 with water on both sides and bunker on the right which is placed strategically to make you think long and hard before trying to reach green. This hole is ranked as the 3rd handicap hole in the field and the distance makes the ranking ring correct. The second hardest hole in the front, in my opinion, is number 7 (handicap hole number 1). The 7th hole is really a work of art and something that must be taken from the Tee box. The water on the left should not play, the waste bunker also should not flank the left side of the fairway. A drive in the middle of the fairway leaves you with a shot to green but beware of the bunker on the right side. I feel happy to experience the right side bunker when I try to reduce the angle of the approach and leave myself short. The nine front rounded well by three three -three par who was guarded by Bunker and Par 5 who needed a precision placement to reach small green that had a large bunker and a large oak tree in the back to punish you to go for a long time.
Nine experiences in front of me are extraordinary and I can’t wait to take nine back. When you turn, you have the opportunity to use a small room and take something from a snack bar (which is important to note because the toilet is not easily accessed in the field). After a quick refresher, my group returned and was ready to continue our round. Back nine once again full of bunkers and the opportunity to find water if you are not careful in the placement of your shot. Stretches of closing #16, #17, and #18 may be the most prominent hole in my opinion and deserve recognition.
The 16th hole is par 5 which has good water in front of the Tee box and along the right side of the critical green shot placement. This hole is extraordinary to see and below the pleasure to be played because of the risk scenario v. The players faced from Fairway. In addition, when in this hole, make sure to keep your eyes exposed to wildlife such as bald eagles, ospley, crocodiles, and raccoon (I feel happy to see all these animals all day). The Green On 16 is clearly complicated because it has a slope and understanding so it is important to stay under the hole when putting.

Now, for stopper shows, #17. The famous hole of 177 in the stadium is really something that must be experienced by every golfer at least once in their lives. Beware before that you have to wait a little on the 17th because it becomes solid because golfers take some shots, pictures and videos (but everything is commensurate). My group decided to play a hole from the distance of the tournament, so we can have a full stadium course experience. The hole is rotated about 139 yards with rotating winds, so that the hole can really be managed. I played 6 iron into green, which was too many clubs because I missed the wind, and hit the right back of the green where the ball took two bouquers and then quickly entered the water. My advice for this hole is to play numbers and aims for the green front center, you have about 14 inches that describe green so that everything that will be wet.
“Better than most”- Gary Koch Responding to Putt Tiger at #17 in 2001 to win his first player
After completing my round, I walked with my group to carve our bag tag to commemorate our day all playing the stadium. This special trip gives me not only with extraordinary golf but also with people I have been waiting for to share a trip with and stay in touch!
I urge you if you have a chance, to travel to TPC Sawgrass and play the stadium. I promise you that you will not be disappointed! Oh, and make sure to bring some additional balls to stand guard if you do a shot at #17 find water.
See you at Fairway!
