Japanese Women’s Volleyball Team 2025 Slogan “Strong Roots First Bloom”, Head Coach AKBAş: Build Team with Solid Foundation – Vol Sports

The Japanese Women’s Volleyball National Team held a press conference for the launch of the season at the Ainosu National Training Center Today (22). The participants including the new head coach Ferhat Akbaş, Minister of High Performance, Masaji Minamibu and 30 players on the list of 2024 VNL. They also expressed their views and goals for the new season and the new Olympic cycle.

Masato Nanbu first said at the beginning of a press conference that the team’s main purpose was to “achieve good results at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics”. He also mentioned that the qualifications for the Los Angeles Olympiad would be decided through the following three events: Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship 2026, World Women’s Volleyball Championship 2027 and World Ranking After the end of the early 2028 VNL.

Masaji Mianbu added: “To face the Olympics at its peak, we hope to get the Olympic ticket as soon as possible. However, the development of young players is also an important topic. We will run in line with the struggle for the best results.”

Head coach Ferhat Akbaş then announced the slogan of the Japanese Women’s Volleyball National Team 2025: “Roots First Bloom”, and expressed his hope to build a team with a stable root. “To build a strong team, we hope to maintain the traditional volleyball style and join the innovative game of young players to consolidate our foundation. This challenging path is difficult to move forward, but we will face challenges with players and try to be beautiful flowers.”

The main 25-year-old striker, Masumi Ishikawa, took over the position of the national team captain this year, and became a brother and sister who together served as the team captain for the first time in the history of Japan’s volleyball. Masumi said: “This is our first season to prepare the Los Angeles Olympics. Because this is the first year, some things might run smoothly and there will be an area that needs to be improved. I hope the whole team can unite and move in the right direction.”
