On Tuesday, November 14th, more than 50 small business owners from across the country, including small business owners from North Carolina, are descending on Washington, D.C. with a clear message for policymakers and the Federal Reserve: Stop the Squeeze on Small Business. The mobilization of small business owners comes as the Federal Reserve is considering a new regulation, known as Basel III Endgame, which the Federal Reserve acknowledges would increase the cost of accessing capital such as a business loan or a business line of credit. Access to capital is a top challenge for small business owners in this high interest rate environment.
While in Washington, small business owners are meeting with more than 40 lawmakers and senior officials at the Federal Reserve to share the negative impact the proposed regulation would have on small business owners and are delivering a comment letter signed by more than 3,000 small business owners from across the nation, including 49 from North Carolina. Small business owners will be available for interviews with media upon request.
The small business owners are flying into Washington from 14 states. Among those from North Carolina are:
