A fire danger warning has just been issued by the National Weather service for the greater Charlotte region.
Here is the full ‘Special Weather Statement‘ that was sent out this morning at 10:40am:
Avery-Alexander-Iredell-Davie-Madison-Yancey-Mitchell-Swain- Haywood-Buncombe-Catawba-Rowan-Graham-Northern Jackson-Macon- Southern Jackson-Transylvania-Henderson-Cleveland-Lincoln-Gaston- Mecklenburg-Cabarrus-Union NC-Caldwell Mountains-Greater Caldwell- Burke Mountains-Greater Burke-McDowell Mountains-Eastern McDowell- Rutherford Mountains-Greater Rutherford-Polk Mountains- Eastern Polk- 1040 AM EST Tue Nov 14 2023 ...INCREASED FIRE DANGER IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING... A very dry air mass will remain in place over the region today. Critical relative humidity values in the teens and lower 20s will develop or persist this afternoon through early this evening. The low relative humidity, lack of recent rainfall, and dry brush and fuels, are enhancing the potential for wildfires to develop and spread quickly in western North Carolina. Most locations remain under a burn ban due to the drought conditions.
Very dry conditions continue across the region today. A Fire Danger Statement for critically low humidity values is in place for northeast GA and western NC in collaboration with forestry officials. #ncwx #scwx #gawx pic.twitter.com/n7PVXd9ALQ
